I know baseball season is over, but I keep hearing how my beloved Chicago Cubs are in the hunt to land Padres pitcher Jake Peavy. Peavy who could arguably be the best pitcher in the National League, or even baseball for that matter, would bring the Cubbies another legitimate ace to go along with Carlos Zambrano and Ryan Dempster. But the biggest thing the Cubs need to think about in making this trade is, will this ultimately allow the Cubs to win the one thing that has eluded them for the past 101 years, a World Series.
My money says no. While Peavy would be a nice sexy and great addition to Cubs fans getting excited and thinking they'll win a championship, this team is more than just one pitcher away. The club fell apart offensively during the post-season and will need more bats in the line-up to be able to get through a post-season that could include, the Phillies, Dodgers, and Diamondbacks next season. But don't get me wrong, I still want Peavy on this team. Come on I'm not a moron.
