There is no loyalty in sports. Those days are long gone. A player remaing with the the same team he's played with his entire career is very rare. When it comes to the NBA in today's game there is only a couple of players I can think of that are veterans that have stayed with one team their entire career. One is Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan is the other. Everyone else has played with mulitple teams or at this point hasn't played long enough for me to say they'll be with one team their entire career.
Dwyane Wade so far is a member of the Miami Heat. He won an NBA Title with the club in 2006, has become an Olympic Champion with the team, and has given fans a reason to care about basketball in the city of Miami since Shaquille O'Neal was traded. That's why it would be devastating if Wade were to leave the Heat after his contract expires after the 2010 season.
Wade is a Chicago boy. Born and raised in the Windy City, he still maintains a residence there in the off-season and has his entire family still there too. Could there be a possibility that the Bulls throw a ton of money at Wade to get him to come home and lead the Bulls back to the place where Michael Jordan once took them? It's no secret how much Wade idolized Jordan as a kid and now he would get the chance to play on the same court that Jordan did and come back to a city that he's already loved in.
The Heat can offer Wade more money than the Bulls, but as we have already seen it's not always about the money. Baron Davis left more money on the table in Golden State to play for the Clippers. Elton Brand left the Clippers to sign with the 76ers. So sometimes it's about makey plenty of dough but also being happy as to where you're playing. So much of this decision I also think will come down to how good the Heat are by the end of 2010. If they're still playing the lottery, expect Wade to say goodbye because he'll be sick of rebuilding this team. But if the club is contending in the East, Wade would maybe feel comfortable staying with the Heat. The heat is definitely on in South Beach, and it could be feeling a cold chill if Wade eventually leaves for the city of Chicago.
