A sad tale to Mike Tyson's story

Mike Tyson is a tragic figure in sports.  Whether you have sympathy or not is up to you.  A man who once seemingly had everything virtually has nothing now.  He was once the champion of all of boxing.  The youngest heavyweight ever.  Made over 300 million dollars in prize money.  All of it is gone.  Tyson is a broken man who now has to deal with the loss of a daughter who was killed during a treadmill accident in his home in Phoenix, Arizona.

Tyson, has gone down hill since a rape charge sent him to prison back in 1990.  Tyson then bit the ear of Evander Holyfield during their second fight, and on top of it, the boxer was never the same fighter after that.

Now he's suffered his biggest loss ever and it wasn't even in a fight.  Tyson still owes money to the IRS and he has admitted his life is a complete waste.  It's a sad tale of what has happened to a man who rose up from the projects became "Kid Dynamite" and now it's all exploded in his face and his life.

You left out the key points that were responsible for Tyson  going from being the world's most popular athlete (1987 European AP Poll) to the pathetic figure he is today.

Firstly, you must have forgotten that from 1985 - 1988,  Mike was a hero with original managers Bill Cayton and Jim Jacobs. Mike was the darling of corporate America as evidenced by his being hired to do TV commercials for Pepsi, Nintendo and Kodak. Not enough - he was selected by the NYC  Police, the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration to do PSA's. But then great con men, and con women entered his life:

1. Robin Givens 1988 - conning him into marriage by claiming she was pregnant when she never was (1990 Ebony Magazine ) and proclaiming him  manic depressive when he never was. Then cleaning out their joint bank accounts the day they separated.

2. Don King 1989 - 1997 - brilliantly conning Mike away from all his friends, advisors, accountants, and  managers.  Mike thought King was his "friend" until an accounting showed half a billion dollars missing. And don't forget it was King's lawyer, Vincent Fuller, whose  idiotic defense got Mike convicted in Indiana.

3. Shelly Finkel 1997 - 2002 - keeping Tyson surrounded by con men and felons to keep Mike away from anyone with a shred of character.

4. Current manager Harlan Werner and director  "friend" James Toback. Under their watchful eye and their wonderful guidance  Mike was arrested for DUI with cocaine possession. And a side bar - they convinced Tyson to do the current movie bio on his life. The film is a monumental  financial flop as evidenced by miniscule box office receipts world - wide.
